Where to go after dark in Barbados
When the sun goes down in Barbados, the party is only just beginning, and wherever you find yourself on the island, you’re certain to find a place that will satisfy your craving for eating, drinking, relaxing, or partying until sunrise.
Whether you're in the mood for a laid-back jazz club atmosphere, for familiarising yourself with the cocktail menu of a trendy beach bar, for mingling with the locals at a reggae concert, or savouring the unique Bajan cuisine, there's plenty to be found and enjoyed under the Barbadian moon.
BARS & CLUBS
Located in Bridgetown, but a bit off the beaten path, Baxter’s Road offers visitors a true Barbadian experience with its great mix of food, music and lively atmosphere. The party doesn’t get going until 11pm, however the festivities usually carry on until early the next morning!
Whilst in Christ Church, the famous St Lawrence Gap is a busy street running alongside a serene bay, offering a great variety of night time hot spots ranging from old rum shops, karaoke bars, as well as restaurants serving international cuisine - Mexican, Bajan, Irish, Jamaican, English, Italian, American and Chinese- as well as fine dining options. Visitors can also enjoy a great choice of music including Calypso, R&B, Rock, Salsa, and Reggae, with band playing almost on a daily basis.
If you happen to be on the South coast of the island, make sure you head to Oistins, one of Barbados' main fishing port, and one where every weekend is filled with visitors enjoying not only the best local seafood, but also live music. The authentic way to party here!
The variety of night time activities depends on the location you decide to explore, and quieter, less touristy areas are likely to offer less choice than the busy urban hubs. From relaxed beach bar and local fare, to swanky cocktail lounges and select clubs,
When it comes to dining, you will easily find a great number of options on the touristy side of the island, ranging from traditional Barbadian flavours to international cuisine, street-side eateries or fine dining. Below is a selection of the places you can find in the country's main region.
